Daytona Bound...

12.27.2015 - 12.30.2015

Well, Daytona came and went, and what an experience!

I knew heading in I was a small fish in a big pond, and with 42 entries, it was going to be a new experience.  My goal going into the week was to finish top 20 without huring myself or the kart.

After some issues on the practice day Monday I was only able to complete 2 of the 6 practice sessions.  Things got on track for racing though as Tuesday I was able to build on an awful qualifying (35th) and was able to finish the final 22nd.

Wednesday was a bit better still but another lackluster qualifying effort (32nd) meant I had to work my way up again.  I was able to do so and finished the Final 19th!

2015 Season
2015 Recap...

12.05.2015

Well, definitely an up and down year.  After being as low as 7th in points, 5th at the break... I was nervous for sure.  But I was able to get it together in the second half finish 4 of the last 5 races on the podium.  All of that equaled a top 3 for the season (3rd) which, all in all, was a good result.

Incidentally Briggs & Stratton (engine company) ran a national (US & Canada) campaign as well and I found out that i finished 8th in the East region (out of ~140) and 47th in the US & Canada (out of ~2100) putting me in position to win some prizes from Briggs as well.  So, overall, 2015 ended up pretty well.  Here's to 2016!!

Finale...

12.05.2015

For the first time in my 3 seasons we had a dry December finale.  Not only dry, but temps in the upper 50's with all sun.  Beautiful day.  Probably why we had the biggest turnout ever with ~27 karts in LO206.

I pretty much had 3rd place for the season locked up barring a DQ.  I did have engine issues (engine was sputtering) but was able to resolve those before qualifying.  Pretty uneventful day.  Qualified 2nd, got shuffled to 4th for the heat, finished 3rd for the final.  Had a run on second place, but he brake checked me early (knew he was going to, wasn't prepared for when).  We both spun but ended up facing the right way and had a big enough lead over 4th to finish ahead of them.

November Rain...

11.08.2015

It was a wet one for this race which typically plays to my favor.  For some reason even I can't explain, I am good in the rain.  Add to this we ran one of the most technical layouts of 2015, and I was a happy guy.

The results reflected this as I qualified 1st, then won the heat leading flag to flag.  The final was a different story though.  No push at the start and I found myself 3rd before the first turn.  Quickly jumped back into 2nd where the leader and I ran away from the pack.  The last few laps were back and forth but I settled for 2nd by a mere .05 seconds...

2013 Season
Double Trouble, again...

10.18.2015 & 10.19.2015

October was a double-header points weekend.  We started running different layouts again which was a lot of fun.  Saturday definitely played into my hands with a very technical layout.  After some issues in the heat (taken out and finished last/15th) I worked my way up to a 3rd place podium finish (crossing the line side by side with 2nd, and missing 2nd place by .03 of a second!).  And as you can see in the pic... we had a litttle fun with some champagn on the podium this time around!!

Sunday was a mixed bag but I did fight back for a 4th place finish in the final.

Second half is under way...

09.12.2015

Second half of the season got started and it looks like I will need podiums the rest of the way in order to get a top 3 for the season.  First half was rough, so hopefully we can make up for it.

Ran a different layout that was not that technical, so that kind of bunched up the field.  Combination of a large group, some new folks, and some fast karts made for an interesting day.  In both the heat and main a poor start made it interesting.  After starting 3rd in the main I got caught up in a turn 4 mele dropping me back to 7th or 8th.  Luckily I was able to work my way back up and finished on the podium in 3rd.

The Maxx-Daddy...

07.25.2015

No points race this month but Maxxis Tires decided to host a "money" race for prizes and bragging rights.

We ran a different layout for this race and it took a while to get the setup right.  Luckily we dot it right for the final!  The top 4 broke away from the pack, but about 1/2 way through 2nd place broke a chain.  This led to a final lap shootout with the first three.  At the final turn 1st and 2nd were side by side and got sideways.  DC in third slipped under and they were 3 wide at the finish!  The winner won by 2 tenths of a second, with only 4 thousandths of a second separating 2nd and 3rd!!

Double Trouble...

06.13.2015 / 06.14.2015

Well, the handling issues from May carried forward to June, but started working themself out.  On Saturday DC was able to work his way up to the top 3 in the heat and was running 2nd in the main before he was black flagged on  Why?  A loose gas cap from a pre-race fillup fell off which equals DQ and minimum points.

Sunday was a bit better.  Handling was better, no parts fell off and DC was able to finish 2nd.  So it would have been a full podium weekend if not for the black flag, but the 2nd will help with points as it's been a rough season so far...

All good things must end...

05.09.2015

March saw the 5 race winning streak end, and May saw the 19 race podium streak come to an end.

The streak, which started in June of 2013 with a Rotax podium, was something DC was hoping to maintain, but an ill-handling kart made it impossible.  He was able to muster a 5th place finish after toiling around the middle of the pack all day... so while not a great finish, not bad for the circumstances.  Hopefully we can figure out the handling and get back to podium form for June's double-header...

Another Podium to start 2015!

03.22.2015

Well, it wasn't a victory, but close to it!  After leading a bulk of the race the kart got tight at the end and 2nd place was the best we could do.  It was a very close race as being in second enabled DC to be able to draft the last couple of laps.  He was able to make a run at it, but fell a bit short.

Be sure to check out the video on the new Videos Page so you can see all of the action for yourself.  It's edited so the boring stuff is cutout, making it an easy watch.

2015 Season is here!

03.21.2015

Well, it's racing time and the 2015 season is set to begin on March 21st.  DCX Motorsports is going out with a new look (sneak peek to the left) and a new approach.  Lead driver DC is looking to not only race locally at Carolina Motorsports Park, but hoping to branch out to some regional races in the Southeast and Midwest.

We'll see what 2015 brings, so stay tuned!!

2014 Maxxis LO206 Champ!

12.06.2014

With a win in the finale DC was able to clinch the 2014 season championship at Carolina Motorsports Park.

It was a great year for DC as he never finished off of the podium with 1 second place, 4 third places, and 5 wins including 4 in a row to finish out the season.  Racing was tight all season long and we really couldn't ask for a better group of guys to race with.

Stay tuned for the 2015 season!!

Make it 4...

12.06.2014

With a slim 37 point lead heading into the final race, it was still anyone's championship!  If 2nd in points (JT) beat DC by more then one spot, championship was his. So basically DC need to finish ahead of JT, or within one spot.  Luckily for DC things fell his way again!  After battling some issues in practice and qualifying, a 3rd in the heat and a great start put DC in first by the middle of the first lap, and he stayed there winning by ~4.5 seconds giving him his 4th win in a row and 5th for the 2014 season!

Trifecta!

11.22.2014

DCX Motorsports took it's third consecutive win, and 4th this season as DC won again!  It was a cool (but clear) day making for some great racing.  DC took the lead half-way through lap 1 and stayed there the entire race.

This victory keeps the race at the top very tight for the season with just 1 race left!!

Second win in a row!

10.11.2014

DCX Motorsports took it's second straight win, and 3rd this season as DC won again!  Racing was close all day but it came down to a pass with just 2 turns left on the last lap for the lead.

This victory keeps the race at the top very tight for the season with just 2 races left!!

Wet Victory

09.13.2014

Winner winner, chicken dinner.  The day started dry, so practice and qualifying were on slicks... but the rain cames during the heats, and boy did it pour!  A 30 minute stoppage wasn't enough to avoid the deluge, but luckily the rain stopped for our final.  The track was wet, so the rain tires were on and it ended in a win for DCX.
